Monday 19th July - Preliminary Task

"What I Go To George Spencer School For"

On the 5th of July we were set a task as a new A2 class to put a re-make of the Busted Video "What I Go To School For". Due to the limited time available until we broke up for the summer, we decided to re-make the video, exactly, up to the second verse.
Due to the fact that we had an exact video to copy, the creativity of the class wasn't an issue, therefore we only had to concentrate on getting the costumes, camera angles, mise en scene and lighting exactly the same as the original. This made the research and planning process a lot easier and improved our time efficiency on this project.
However during this process we encountered some major errors with our filming and mistakes which were made which increased the the planned filming time. Firstly our footage was taped over, because we didnt specify on the tape what we had filmed. Then we only had an hour lesson and the camera wasn't fully charged and ran out of battery, therefore our editing time was cut down and had to be rushed.

Monday 19th July - Introduction and Examples...

Skills Audit
Today we completed our skills audit, in which we reflected on our year 12 experience of Media Studies and what skills were used, developed, and reflected upon throughout the year. These skills consisted of software, equipment and planning skills and how possible problems we came across during the year were resolved.

Examples
We then watched last years collection of music videos by this schools candidates. We had an analytical discussion about each one and then individually ranked our favourite top three. We talked about their positives and negatives and we took on board what we should and shouldn't do in ours.
