I chose this video, due to its originality, creativity and unusual "spin". The song is fairly catchy, which is always vital in music videos, however the editing and the video itself really stood out in a different way to normal "pop" video which nowadays are very similar in terms of shots, locations, costume etc. I like the fact how Vickers isn't mainstream pop, but can attract the mainstream "pop" audience by the sound of her songs, yet still keep her original, quirky personality and put her own individual stamp on certain things.
In the first shot, with graphic and text, with paint drip effect it shows texts saying the title of the song, The Boy Who Murdered Love. This is a form of intertexuality, due to the fact that the image looks very similar to "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" opening with the lips.

After this opening shot, it fades and drips down screen to reveal a mansion and zooms in towards it (1). This shot gives the sense of "a journey", therefore the audience are attracted and engaged within this video and feel involved and apart of the narrative journey. This shot then cuts to a close up of Vickers (2) who smiles, looking straight at the camera. This again creates a relationship with the audience, due to the close up shot and eye contact. This friendly smile again creates a familiar, kind atmosphere (realtionship), therefore the viewers are more likely to, again be involved and want to watch the video. Also this shot has a sense of voyeurism, this is because Vicker's hair is just "fallen" round her head creating a sense that she has just got out of bed, maybe creating sexual connotations, which would again attract viewers, espexially males. This shot then cuts to a mid-shot of a scene outside the mansion with rocking chair, steps and tiled flooring. This shot has had been edited in post-production by the addition of cartoons and drawings (3). This shot really makes the video original and adds a personal touch to the song, this effect is unusual, therefore hopefully will again be a tool to increase the audiences' interest.

This shot then cuts to a pan of a record player with "cartoon" blood smeared over which then slightly pans and cuts to Vickers lying on her back on a couch with her legs upright on the arm of the chair (1), with her arms above her head reading something. This long shot, provides the audience with full body shot of Vickers, wearing a thin dress which is crumpled around her thighs and elbows. Due to the narrative this could portray her as being vulnerable, and showing a fair amount of skin. This could attract male audience members by Vickers looking sexually attractive. Again, cartoons have been used in this shot including police tape and arrows. This shot then pans upwards and fast cuts to a downward pan of her legs gently cliding with eachother (2). This shot again could represent her vulnerability by the fact that she could be nervous, hense the little movements. After this a fast upward pan is shown of an ingrowing tree in the mansion, which then quickly cuts to close up pan around the tree. These shots not only give the audience infomation to where this scene is happening, but also the twisted branches and roots could represent Vicker's feelings in this video because of her anger and frustraion towards this boy (3).

After the pan of the tree trunk it then cuts to inward zoom of the mansion through a black steel gate. This gate could represent Vicker's entrapment with her "feelings" and suggest that she has to fight to get out. Then a cut is used to show a mid shot of Vickers again on the couch but this time, its closer, reading the letters/photos. This intamcy helps the audience emphathise with Vickers and understand her feelings, therefore reinforcing the audiences relationship and engagement with the video. Then this shot cuts to a close up on the "letters", which turn out to be photos of, which we assume, as an audience, her boyfriend. These photos then become destroyed by doodles and drawings of "horns", "mustatche", "devil tale" (1). This suggests that she is frustrated with him and the doodles are perhaps in "her head". This creates the impression that we are seeing these photos through Vicker's persepctive, therefore again increasing the audience/artist intamcy within the video and narrative wise, suggest she is angry with him and considers him to be "the devil". After this quick side pan, of earlier couch shot, then cuts to a mid-shot of Vickers sitting down infront of a window and near a vase full of roses (2). This shot, due to the window, makes Vickers seem quite vulnerable and innocent. Then repeated pan of couch shot, but other way, then cuts to a close up of Vickers near the window again, with the roses in the foreground (3).

After this shot, the mid-shot of her legs is repeated then it cut to Vickers lying on the couch singing to the camera. This shot, includes the audience and creates the impression that she is being open with her viewers. This again will attract them to watch more and gain there attention (1). Then, quickly, it cuts to the floor, where "cartoon" blood is on the floor with the "fluffy" lettering spelling out "L.O.V.E" with arrows places through them (2). This shot clearly shows Vicker's state of mind and frustration with this "Boy". After this very short shot, the camera cuts to Vickers on the window sill again, but this time this shot cuts to a picture of the "boy". In this shot theres crowns and trumpets, with flags with the words "pain" and "hurt", as if he is being rewarded for his personality, in some sort of cerenamy (3). This shot, now gives the audience more infomation about why Vickers is annoyed, frustrated and upset, which helps the audience relate to the narrative and/or be involved because they know more.

The camera now zooms in towards the figure and flashes as if a picture is being taken of him in "all his glory", his smirk shows us that he is happy about himself and suggests to the audience that Vickers is right to be frustrated with him. This then cuts to the shot of Vickers (which is blurry) with roses, perfectly in focus in the foreground, then cuts to a close up of her holding a pair of scissors. This gives the impression she is going to harm the flowers. The couch long shot is repeated with her singing. Following this is then a mid shot of Vicker's face with the rose on the right side of the screen. The rose has a graphic on it, which is a sad face and then she proceeds with the cut and cuts the bud off the stem (1). After this fairly long shot, the camera then cuts to the "window" shot again, where she is singing and looking vulnerable. Then the camera cuts to the "boy" shut, this time the figure is topless with arrows in his chest (2). This represents Vicker's anger and reinforces her anger towards the feeling of "love" and towards "him". This is also reinforced by her cutting the roses. After this it cuts to various shots of the boy with arrows in his head, then with a white top on, looking quite tough with no arrows. This represents his arrogance and egotical personality, therefore again retains our empathy towards Vickers in this video. After this shot, the couch shot is repeated with her singing to the ceiling, then cuts to Vickers standing against the wall with arrows flying at her, as if she is expecting them (3). Her gaze is focussed towards them, as if she expects "the boy to be hurting her again", so this time it isns't a shock to her, because she has gotten angry before due to his personality. This suggests to the audience that Vickers is suffering, therefore increases their sympathy towards her.

After Vickers getting shot, it cuts to a close up of the "boy" giving his reaction, which gives the impression that he is happy hurting her and that is doesn't affect him at all. Then, the song gets in to the chorus, with the words "shot shot shot". The close up of Vickers singing (1) then cuts to a long shot of the room with Vickers, now stood up, with her hand aimed towards the camera in "gun pose", singing the chorus (2). After this, fast straight cuts are used as the tempo of the chorus increases and Vickers sings whilst the shots and locations are constantly changing. There is a shot of her, ripping out the arrows, which were just shot at her, out, with fury, which suggests she is getting hurt and more frustrated. Towards the end of the chorus, with the words "boy who murdered love", there are several shots of the boy punching "cartoon" letters, spelling out the word "love", as if it were a punchbag (3). This represents the boy's angry side and the audience are again informed of his bad qualities, which therefore again creates empathy towards Vickers.
