Above are some screen shots of Pixie Lott's Muisc Video "Cry Me Out" directed by Jake Nava, which was fully filmed in black and white, almost giving a film noir sense. This music video and colour choice complimented this Ballard perfectly. Not only did it enhance the location, but it also represented Lott's sadness in this video, therefore gaining audience empathy. Nava also directed Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" (below), which was also filmed in black and white, this choice of colouring in this video was to represent her independence as an artist, and portray that she has been a confident, independent woman for most of her life. This will make her fans, especially female, look up to her and see her as an inspiration. This video is an amazing video, due to the male:female switch which happens towards the end. This is a very true (for certain relationships) video and I think audiences' of this video will be captured from the start, even if they aren't Beyonce fans, just due to normal, fairly simple message which most people can empathise with due to its high relevance in today's society.
