This music video starts with an establishing shot with different camera angles to inform the audience where this video is set (1). This music video has a short prologue with enhanced ambient sounds to increase the tension and set the genre for this song, I think prologues are useful in music video and if the music video has an important or complicated narrative it sets it up perfectly. In this shot the character burns a map in the fire, without Imbruglia singing (3). These narrative shots set the story of the music video initially, therefore the audience are hooked right from the start and so wonder what is going to happen next. Also in this starting sequence there are several close ups of Imbruglia to show the audience that this song is by this artist, obviously the titles will reinforce this, but shots of her will be familar to fans therefore will increase their engagement within the video.

There is a close up of her passport (1), which immediately sets up the impression that she is trying to physically "burn" but metaphorically "forget" her life and wants to become some one new and different. This could be for a number of reasons. This is a very important shot in the music video, and because it is towards the beginning the audience are aware of the narrative and understand therefore watch this video comfortabley without being too confused. Her emotions during the burning of her "idenity" are shown through a selection of close ups of her singing and/or just staying in to the blaze (2).

As the narrative is explored the music video quickly flips between Imbruglia's singing and the plot. This involves the audience and makes the music video more interesting, this would therefore, hopefully increase the audiences' enjoyment whislt watching this. Close ups of Imbruglia singing which include the same setting as the narrative shots increase the audiences' focus due to the limited settings therefore they only have to focus on the narrative (1). This music video, due to the setting and props used is starting to stereotypically be aimed at a male audience. This is due to the "James Bond" related narrative of changing identity and initial theme of "cars" (2). This could hopefully attract a male audience to this video, plus the presumeably female fans which would increase her target audiene for this video and increase single sales. There are various shots of Imbruglia getting in to a car, because presumeably she has to leave her secret hideout because she is changing her identity(3).

As the chorus devlops the car chase begins, therefore fast cuts and edits are used to increase the tension and make the music video seem more like an action movie. This would hopefully attract male viewers to watch this video, therefore again increasing the target audience for this video (1). This section is during the chorus of the track, therefore this section of the narrative fits the pace and will increase audience engagement due to it containing "dramatic" scenes.
